Journal Assignment
Sit down in a quiet space and write in your acting journal:
Who are you most protective of in the world?
Who taught you what love is?
Who never feels about you the way you want them to?
Who can you not stand (to see or hear about)? Why?
What is the period of your life that you never want to return to?
What physical location do you associate with trouble? Recreate the walls of that place in your imagination.
What physical location do you associate with hope? Recreate the 4 walls of that place in your imagination.
Who or what was the biggest obstacle in your life?
How did you overcome it? (get specific)
What triggers you? (the strongest triggers)
A: to laugh;
B: to feel rejected;
C: to feel not valued;
D: to feel you must stand up and fight for yourself
What issues in the world are you willing to fight for? (speak out when you see wrongs)
What was on the 4 walls of your childhood room? (you can simply visualize this instead of writing if you wish) [colors of walls, where are windows, what could you see outside windows, how did it feel to be there, what was the ceiling like, etc.]
What's something you have been through in your life that you wish no one else has to go through?
What moves you to action?
What paralyzes you?
As a human being, what is your dream?
Who do you want approval/ validation from most?
What are you most afraid of in your acting?
These are all choices. It's good to have them available when you are working. There are infinite choices. Being ready to work with our choices allows us to go farther when we are working together in class.
You don't have to share these answers with me. It's for you.
If you have any resistance to the above, take a look at that. Feel free to talk to me at any point.
Many thanks,
Corey
